X is for Xenial

Day 24: “X is for “Xenial”. Xenial means having friendly competition. Who do you have this kind of competition with?”

I was not sure that was the definition for xenial so I looked it up. Here is what I found, “Adjective used to describe a friendly relationship between a host and their guests.” This word was used among ancient Greeks so I could see how to the competition comes into play. Whatever.

I don’t have any close friends so I don’t compete with anyone, except myself. I have always competed against myself. I try to do better than my former self did the previous year or years depending on what I am trying to achieve at the moment.

Last year, I rode my bicycle for cancer. I was able to raise almost $4000 so this year I want to beat that amount.

I do believe friendly competition is healthy because it helps both people reach goals that are hard to do alone.

Another goal I have for this year against myself is to raise my number of followers on WordPress by 100. Hopefully enough people will enjoy my content this year.

Do you have one of those friends that you compete with?
