Bongo Rock does not sound like something that one would seek out to buy or to listen to unless in a hostage situation. Michael Viner’s Incredible Bongo Band was a side project for Viner. He was on a label which included many artist and producers who passed through the studio so many of them pitched in.
The worst: “Last Bongo in Belgium” loses the fun bongos and blows hard on the sax. “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” is just kind of blah until the second half.
I will not go through each song on this review. This is an easy album to review as a whole work. All the songs are cover songs as far as I can tell. It is all played with passion and bongos. It feels like a party. 7/10.
