The Smiths’ Strangeways, Here We Come was the last album Morrissey and Johnny Marr worked on together. The Smiths came to an end by the time the album was released. Both artists considered this album as the best Smiths album.
Recently Morrissey has spouted far right politics and his sales have taken a dive for it. This is the world we live in now. Nobody can have a different opinion because of the far left. They are trying their hardest to shut up opinions. My problem with this situation is that it takes away free speech and free thoughts. It takes away comedy. It shuts up half a country. I have started hating the left side from which I was once associated with in one of my former selves. I had moved to the middle-ish, but now I am moving more right, but not as far as Morrissey. Maybe this is one of the reasons that Morrissey and Marr could not work together. Their politics were not aligned. We are in a place where people will not work with people from a different political background.
Anyway, as for the music on this album, it is incredible. I like every song, except maybe “Death at One’s Elbow”. My favourite songs are “I Won’t Share You” and Girlfriend in a Coma“. The whole album deserves to be on the list and it should be listened to by you. 10/10.
