I have already reviewed a couple albums from R.E.M. I was a huge fam of their music. I remember when their eighth album Automatic for the People came out in 1992. My best friend was Eric. He was a drummer. I was going through a rough time in life, but he was there for a brief time in my history. Lead singer Michael Stipe is back after a long absence as of a few days ago with a second song released from his upcoming solo project.
I remember this album as being great, except for one song “Man on the Moon“. I just never like it. I listened to it today and I felt almost the same. It is just a boring song for me.
My favourite songs are “Drive“, “Everybody Hurts“, “Sweetness Follows“, “Find the River” and “Nightswimming“. I really like the two latter songs because I think Stipe hits his sweet spot in slow songs.
I think this is another great album from R.E.M. It is their fourth and final album on the list. I need to listen to their later albums. I had moved onto some other styles of music during the late 90s and 2000s. They will always hold a special place in my life. 10/10.
