Pieces Of The Sky is the first album from Emmylou Harris on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Surprisingly, she is one of the few country artist on the list. I am shocked that Linda Ronstadt is not on this list. She was so big in the 70s. I have zero faith in this list. I wish I had researched it more before I used it for this challenge.
Harris is a talented singer, but that is it. She rarely writes her own songs. I liked her better as the backup singer for Gram Parsons. I am not a fan of country music, but she does not make it too country in every song. Unfortunately, it is mostly covers and you cannot outdo Dolly Parton on “Coat of Many Colors“. Her voice is lovely, but the music sounds like a 1000 cat deaths. 6/10.
