#528 U2 – War

U2 finally made it on the list of 1001 Albums… I must ask a question first. “How the hell is War on the list and Boy is not?” Boy is equally as incredible as War. I listened to Boy more than War when I was growing up. The editor of 1001 Albums… is an idiot. I was curious about something so I checked the list and INXS is not on it. How can that be? INXS were one of the greatest bands of the 80s and early 90s. I have no confidence in this list and I wish I could quit it now. Bad to War, it was their third studio album and final album produced by Steve Lillywhite.

I think it would be easier to say which songs I do not like or love. “The Refugee” is my least favourite song on the album. I find it boring compared to the rest of it. The other one which I really dislike more is “Red Light”. I think this song is called “When Bad Songs Happen to Great Bands”.

40” is one my favourite songs ever because I had not fully come to appreciate U2 until I saw their Red Rocks concert aired on MTV or somewhere. They played “40” often and it was the live version that made me a fan. It is a long story, but I became a fan of Journey because I saw them live. I was not fan before seeing Steve Perry live and feeling the chills that his voice gave me. I do not think anyone else has ever given me the same feeling in a concert. The point is, some groups or artist are better live.

Also listen to “Seconds” because it still sounds incredible.

In the end, if you have an album with only two songs you dislike, then you have an almost masterpiece. Although, the album is not superior to Boy, it is still a great album. 9.7/10.
