I definitely had Portishead‘s debut album Dummy. They were the rage of 1994. I know they recorded more music, but it took too long and I had moved on. In fact, I had changed a lot during the intervening years. I took a big break from everything. I was on a search. I like trip-hop and I would hear it often in the bookstore I frequented during the 90s.
This album is filled with great song, especially “Mysterons“, “Glory Box“, “Sour Times”, “It’s a Fire”, and almost all the other songs. I think Beth Gibbons’ vocals help make the album a winner, but that does not take away from the music. It is incredible. Just go listen to it for yourself. 9.5/10.
