#1079 SZA – Ctrl

SZA released her debut album Ctrl in 2017. The album was supposed to be released in 2015, but SZA experienced some health issues. Eventually, the recorded company took away her hard drive and released it. The album was a critical and commercial success. I have not heard her music until today. All the songs carry the explicit label.

My favourite songs are “Love Galore”, “Drew Barrymore”, and “Prom”. My favourite song is “The Weekend”. I learned of it from TikTok. One reviewer, described SZA’s lyrics as “unravelling” and her songs often revolve around themes of sexuality, nostalgia, and abandonment”. I can relate to that.

Overall, if you like vulgar language, R&B, neo soul, and rap, then this is your album. Personally, all of those things are not interesting to me, yet I liked a lot of the album. 7.5/10.

…and i hate writing about myself. It feels awkward.
